I was in charge of the Blue and Gold banquet this year. We did a mystery dinner cub scout style! A mystery dinner is where you choose items on the menu like cub scout in a sleeping bag. Then you are served a corn dog. Everything is on the menu including silverware and everything gets cleared away after each course. The menu was created with cub scouts in mind. My brothers were awesome in helping me think of the items. Thanks guys! You can see the menu and the key here.

Mikel and his scouts came and served the cubs. The cubs loved being served by the older boys and the older boys got all the leftovers :).
The centerpieces were $1.00 buckets from Zurchers (a party supply store). I printed out the cubscout emblems and decoupaged them on with Modpodge.
Then I copied an idea from here and made sugar cookie lollipops. The original plan was to cut the sugar cookies out into the scout fleur de lis but I made the wrong recipe. Who knew there were sugar cookie recipes that you dont cut out.
This is our watering station. Its just water with lemons and blueberries. I used frozen blueberries and they turned the water purple. Next time I will go with fresh ones.
The Yellow rectangles at everyone's seat is where they wrote down their menu selections. We collected them by table and numbered them so we would know who to serve what to.
Between each course each den prepared a skit. Wolves went while we were getting the first course out, bears during the second and webelos during the third.

Such a fun idea!
Yep...those old sugar cookie recipes that don't have the right amount of flour to make cut outs. I know that trick! Been there...done that!
I'm sure the all the boys loved the dinner...big and small!
Love you guys!
What a great idea! You are so clever. You were always so good at planning special events. I am sure everyone LOVED it! It looks extra special. What a lot of work!
That sounds like a lot of fun! Good ideas!
Kyle and I enjoyed guessing what the menu items were. I think the purple water adds more excitment to things too, so I don't think you should change a thing about it! How fun - if I'm ever in scouts, I'm going to use all your ideas so keep posting them!! Love you guys!
Hi, you don't know me I did a google image search on B&G Banquet to get some ideas for laying out the program of the night's event and came across your blogspot. The menu was so clever. What a great idea. I loved it! I thought about doing a mystery dinner but then decided on a few other things b/c it's 100 years for the theme this time. Lyndee
This is very helpful...! Our banquet is this Saturday and I'm pretty certain it will not look this adorable... this is our first year. Maybe I can make it pretty for next year! (o: ~ kim
I stumbled across your blog doing a search for blue & Gold programs on google. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your ideas! You're extremely creative! You posted the word file for the menu, but I wondered if you had a file for the invitation. I love it's design and would love to use the background and word border on the cover of our program but haven't been able to locate them online. Could you possibly forward me the file or message me where you found them?
THANKS!
